The Amalfi Decor Theme

Updated: Dec 4, 2022

As travel was restricted a trend emerged of seeking to bring destinations we love into our lives.

Focusing on our immediate environments, trying new recipes and making the smallest of occasions special.

Styling and creating magical moments in your home became paramount.

With Italy very much in the forefront of this trend, think comforting pasta dishes, simple yet tasteful details, pretty ceramics, this post is dedicated to the Amalfi Trend and I hope it will provide you with some inspiration for your next celebration or wedding.

THE ALMAFI COLOUR SCHEME

The Almafi colour scheme is predominantly pastels. Gorgeous hues of blues, lemons, terracottas but can also be a bolder colour scheme.

Firstly let's take a look at the general vibe and softer colour palette of the Italian Riviera.

When designing your tables with a toned down pastel scheme choose a few base colours. Softer oranges and blues then add a stronger accent colour in to give your table a bit of pop.

In these images below note the pop of the blue table runner and bringing together a very similar the colour palette of that stunning view. In the third image it still picks up the view colours but with a focus on white and a deeper green.

The design process isn't just looking at individual images, it is creating a mood board to bring an essence together. I do this all the time for any project I am working on.

This colour scheme is popular for 2023 as blues make a comeback and citrus is still all the rage.

Let's take a look at a bolder colour scheme, using a deeper blue, lemons and see how simple it is to create this on a budget. Perfect for a wedding or alfresco summer party.

Images will be credited as found them on Pinterest so a bit more digging around to do.

Note the use of gingham features quite heavily with this style with the linens and napkins. Glorious Mediterranean ceramics and the creative ideas for using lemons.

Here are just some ideas I have found to help and inspire you to create a gorgeous Amalfi lemon themed table.

A lemon tree doesn't grow like this as have one in my garden, they are actually quite thorny and messy! But we love this new arrival on Amazon if you wished to create the garland style table. It is one metre long so calculate every two people is a metre if you are decorating a long table.

How cute are the lemon napkin rings, they would make a gorgeous favour for your guests if you purchased these for your wedding day, at just over one euro or pound each, or buy them as a little addition to your home styling table kit.

On my wish list now for next summer are these glass lemon candles, they are battery operated with flickering candle lit and a bonus if you are in a hurry, one click and they are alight! Also perfect for spaces that don't allow real flames. Do always check if you are allowed candles when planning your wedding or event in a hot country as often they are banned during the summer.

Fancy a table runner, decorative linens are back, the 100% cotton Limoncello runner from Maison D' Hermine is pretty and would work well with less decor on the tables and styled with gingham napkins to bring a more eclectic look to your table.

These linen gingham napkins are just delightful, a beautiful addition to any table, especially a Mediterranean style. Yes I have a thing about linen napkins!

To add the wow factor to your table these Mediterranean plates are just fabulous, 6 different designs for just 30 euros or pounds.

They measure 25.5 cm or 10 inches so if I was laying a table I would place them on top of a full size white dinner plate on a raffia mat with the gorgeous linen gingham napkin draped over the edge of the table secured between the two plates and pop a lemon on top.

I have created a range of gorgeous Lemon stationery to compliment the Italian Amalfi Lemon theme and you can find out more here.

If I didn't have the plates I would use the napkins with the lemon napkin rings to decorate each place setting.

I hope you have enjoyed this post, give me a heart if you loved this.

Disclaimer, all products I love and are on my wish list for my table styling which is why I am recommending them and each time anything is purchased I get a small commission which will keep me in cocktails! Actually I would buy the candles and napkins!
