Arcos de la Frontera is a picturesque town perched on top of a spectacular steep cliff, one of the many 'Pueblos Blancos' dotted around Andalusia.
The history of this town dates back years including the Arabs in the middle ages making it an important defensive strong point as well as many other towns along the Cadiz coastline in Andalucia.
Frontera meaning 'fortresses' so we have Arcos de la Frontera, Jerez de la Frontera and Moron de la Frontera, to name but a few.
This history is still very evident today within the narrow white washed streets of Arcos, trust me I have breathed in whilst trying to go through an arch in my car there! Anyone else do this or is it just me?!
The deep, rich history of this pretty town is evident everywhere and Arcos was declared a national, historic monument in 1962. At the top of the town sits the Parador hotel overlooking the steep cliff down to the River Guadalete which lines three sides of Arcos. The streets are full of tapas bars and restaurants, it is a lively town especially when the Feria arrives!
Arcos de la Frontera is located near Cadiz, Jerez and an hour to Seville, it is a brilliant base to explore the western side of Andalucia.
There are a couple of wedding venues surrounding this town, the Fain Viejo and I always stay at the Arcos de La Frontera Golf and Country Club. A comfortable Golf and Country Club just outside the town with gorgeous private villas overlooking a golf course filled with olive trees. This venue also has a restaurant and spaces to host welcome drinks and a great place for your guests to stay.
I have many brilliant memories of Arcos de la Frontera. One evening finding a large tapas bar on the outskirts of the town which looked busy so decided to give it a try. There seemed to be much jubilation and excitement as we entered and were enthusiastically greeted with plates of free jamon, manchego cheese and a glass of the famous Manzanilla sherry. We ordered our drinks and food whilst observing a lot of activity going on with a stage set up. It turned out to be a famous Flamenco singer, with his entourage, coming back to his hometown for a special performance! It was a fabulous evening I will never forget with lots of clapping, dancing and merriment.
Imagine my excitement when I was recently contacted by another gorgeous Finca in Arcos.
THE FINCA MESA JARDIN
Mesa Jardin is a Finca that has been in a family for four generations and was transformed from a working Finca to a beautiful venue starting first with refurbishing the main house in 1990, following much more work since, including a pool and landscaping.
The Mesa Jardin optimises everything that is Andalusia, olive and almond trees, beautiful patios abundant in brightly coloured tumbling bougainvilleas.
This thoughtfully restored 'Cortijo' accommodates up to 12 people in six bedrooms, a large living area, bathrooms and a pool if you wish to stay at the Finca during your event.
I love the eclectic Andalusian style of this property, the use of crisp white linens, thoughtful vintage Andalusian touches everywhere and not one modern monstrosity in sight. Although I am never overly keen on the animals heads but hey we are in Spain!
EXTERIOR SPACES AT THE FINCA MESA JARDIN
Whilst we have the more intimate spaces around this Finca there are more expansive areas hosting the most stunning views and perfect for holding your wedding or celebrations. There is also enough space to erect a marquee in their gardens should you wish. We do recommend this during the months of April, May, end of September and October.
With a capacity of 350 guests and many different areas to host a ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner and dancing this is a beautiful venue for you to consider for your wedding or celebration.
To rent the house for 12 people including cleaning and breakfast is 1800 euros per night.
To rent the entire property for you celebration is 3500 euros per day not including the house.

Remember to breathe in when driving through narrow streets but if you are sensible you can park in the main car park at the bottom of the town and walk in!
